WELCOME TO THE NEW JAFFNA COLLEGE WEBSITE
FROM PRINCIPAL REV. DR. D. S. SOLOMON
I extend my warmest welcome to staff and students, alumni and visitors to
our new Jaffna College website. I remember with gratitude the inspiration
and dedication of the founders (1823) and loyal supporters of Jaffna
College since its founding in 1872.
Today’s Jaffna College students and graduates will need to contend with
many new trials and challenges as they pursue their dreams in the world of
the future. But this is not a new situation. Past graduates have also
experienced great upheaval and troubles, which led to so many of our
brightest and best young people leaving Sri Lanka to seek careers and
build new lives in other countries. New generations will be dealing with
issues such as the impacts of global climate change, political and ethnic
instability in many countries, health disasters such as Covid19, as-yet
undreamed of new technologies, and a widening gap between rich and
poor.
Jaffna College remains committed to educating young people in the
academic, sporting and communal aspects of life to prepare them well for
their life’s journey, whatever this might be.
We give thanks for Jesus Christ, Light of Life, for his continued guidance
and blessings on our endeavors.
